Vehicle Re-Creations was started by Kevin Becker and John Sullivan, on a long drive to Pennsylvania several years ago. What started as idle conversation to pass the time, grew more serious when the pair bought a 1973 Karmann Ghia Convertible which was damaged by Hurricane Charley. The car was removed from a garage that had collapsed around it and trailered to John's garage. Kevin and John started a restoration of the car. Normally such behavior as sandblasting, welding, grinding, and general mechanical mayhem would draw disdain in the middle of a quiet residential neighborhood. In this particular case, the neighbors were curious. Instead of complaining, people kept bringing over work. So much work, that Vehicle Re-Creations was born. With more work than they could handle, they opened a shop over on Forsyth in Winter Park, and the rest is history.
